Nursery/kindergarten

We have both private and public nurseries in Sola. Your child is guaranteed a place in a nursery if you have applied. However, please note that there may be a waiting period, and you may be assigned a place in a different nursery than the one you applied for. 

The main deadline for applications is February 1. each year.

If you have recently moved to Sola, we recommend that you contact the nursery of your choice. You can also contact the School and Nursery Office:

Online application 

Primary and secondary schools

Children in Norway start school in August the year they turn 6. Your child will automatically be registered at the local school, but you can choose to apply to another school.

If you recently moved to Sola, you have to contact your local school to register your child. 

After school activity programme (SFO)

Before and after school hours, the school provides an after-school activity programme (SFO) for 1st to 4th grade children, and for disabled children from 1st grade to 7th grade. You can get more information about SFO at your school.

Adult Learning Centre

The Adult Learning Centre offers

  • Norwegian language course for immigrants
  • basic education and training at our primary school
  • special needs education
